Shedding Tears

Today is a painful day for my family. We lay my brother-in-law, Victor Campbell to rest. His life was hard at times. He was not ashamed to tell people he was a recovering alcoholic and I put the emphasis on recovering. Victor made a lot of mistakes in this life. He paid a heavy price for them but we know that God is good, that God loves us.

This is the message that we have heard from him and announce to you: “God is light and there is no darkness in him at all.” If we claim, “We have fellowship with him,” and live in the darkness, we are lying and do not act truthfully. But if we live in the light in the same way as he is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin. If we claim, “We don’t have any sin,” we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong. 10 If we claim, “We have never sinned,” we make him a liar and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:510, Common English Bible)

When I read the Scripture above, there is no question that there is more grace in God than there is sin in us. Victor lived in that hope. So should we all.

This week Song Style Saturday is in memory of Victor Campbell. He will be missed. I covet your prayers as I lead his service today.

Could you not think of another way,
Now that your gone, its so hard each day,
Our grief has turned things so they’re upside down,
Shedding tears for you, please don’t let me drown.

Shedding tears each step I take
Shedding tears, when I awake
Shedding tears, let them soon be
Shedding tears, my joy to see.

In our hearts we know, your soul had no peace,
The pain you held deep, you left us to keep.
We look for the day, we will feel God’s grace,
Shedding tears for you, as we seek God’s face.

Shedding tears each step I take
Shedding tears, when I awake
Shedding tears, let them soon be
Shedding tears, my joy to see.

Heavy grief today, blessed tears will change
We will cry no more, all those tears of pain.
Our lives will shine bright, we will never part,
Shedding tears of joy, ever on our hearts.

Shedding tears each step I take
Shedding tears, when I awake
Shedding tears, let them soon be
Shedding tears, my joy to see.

Shedding tears, my joy to see.

Rest in Peace, Victor

Be Blessed.

Seeking the Genuine,
Keith
