Ask God Why

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5, English Standard Version)

Today is the first Saturday under the new format but really the only thing I changed for today was the name. “The Saturday Sing Along,” is kind of a misnomer. I give you lyrics, and in this case guitar chords but the only place the tune exists is in my head.

I was reading the Bible recently and I encountered the above verse from the letter of James. People often will ask over and over again to themselves or to those around them but the rest of us, most likely don’t have many more answers than the one asking the question. But, most of us NEVER ask God.

That is unfortunate. God will listen to your “Why.” The answer may be hard to hear. The answer may not come. Or, more likely we weren’t listening. People won’t ask God why. They think that somehow, it is wrong.

It isn’t wrong. God can handle our questions. Why would we think the creator of the universe would be unable or even unwilling to answer our questions?

It got me to thinking. This time instead of going to a paper Bible I went and typed into Google, “Scripture about Asking God Why.” The results came back and one of them was titled “Asking God.” It listed 100 verses about asking God questions. Some fit with this. Some did not.

It all caused me to write this week’s song, “Ask God Why.”
