Why Did Jesus Have to Die?

I hate it when I drive down, and a sermon idea pops into my head. I am driving (and usually in a hurry), I can’t ignore the street to write it down. I would have to pull off the road to write them down. Like I said, I am usually in a hurry so that isn’t happening either. So, I tell myself, “I will remember.” Then I don’t.

Well, I didn’t fail to remember that day. The lyrics fell into place relatively quickly. The little black dots make the entire process slow and little. I felt the fish like he was coming into the boat. A little later I remembered the song. The tune was, “It’s a Thing I Couldn’t Do” from the movie Grease. So, I will need a different tune but the poem is what I wanted to share most.

Why did Jesus have to die,
His birth brought forth a decree
Kill the boys, a desperate cry
It caused his parents to flee
To fool the king, they would try,
Hiding in Egypt was the key.

His early life reached its end
Some held their sin and evil
Calling twelve making them friends
Taught them to fish for people.
Into the world, them he’d send
Songs of joy became mournful.

Why did Jesus have to die?
His life was the perfect race.
Sin was not His, it was mine.
Constant sin was my disgrace
Don’t forget, there was no crime
He died so, we might have grace.

Jews accused at every turn
Romans came and drug him away
He lost all that he had earned
Crucify Him, come what may
Evil lived in all they learned
Jesus died to show us the way.

He give us a place to start,
Living faith can cause dismay
He tells me to do my part
Seeing Jesus when I pray
Look to him, open your heart,
Faith will give us, a brand new day.

Why did Jesus have to die?
His life was the perfect race.
Sin was not His, it was mine.
Constant sin was my disgrace
Don’t forget, there was no crime
He died so, we might have grace.

He was jailed then a mock trial
They beat him bloody and raw
I almost see Pilate’s smile
Carrying his cross caused him to fall
That Pilate was pleased is pure vile.
Order held, the proud stood tall.

Feet and hands nailed to a cross
People saw his suffering
A thief learned his life was not a loss
He dropped his head, life ending
He came off, now torture tossed.
Into a tomb, a stone sealing.

Why did Jesus have to die?
His life was the perfect race.
Sin was not His, it was mine.
Constant sin was my disgrace
Don’t forget, there was no crime
He died so, we might have grace.

May we all find His grace.

Be blessed friend.

Seeking the Genuine,
Keith
